Kansans Can

During the October 14 Kansas State Board of Education meeting, school districts across the state were recognized by Kansas Education Commissioner Dr. Randy Watson for outstanding performance in multiple areas.

Hesston USD 460 earned recognition in several key categories — Postsecondary Success, Graduation Rate, Academic Preparedness, and received the prestigious Commissioner’s Award.

Hesston was one of only seven public school districts statewide to achieve the Gold Star for Postsecondary Success. This honor recognizes districts with the highest percentage of students who meet postsecondary success criteria — including earning industry-recognized certifications, postsecondary certificates or degrees, or continued enrollment in a postsecondary program during both the first and second years after graduation. Because Hesston’s results exceeded its predicted Postsecondary Success Rate, the district also earned the Commissioner’s Award.

In addition, Hesston USD 460 reached the Gold Star level for Graduation Rate, recognizing districts with at least a 95% graduation rate. The district was also among only 17 public school districts in Kansas to receive the Silver Star for Academic Preparedness, awarded to districts where at least 60% of students meet proficiency on the annual state assessments.

These honors reflect the collective effort and dedication of our students, staff, families, and community. We are proud of these achievements and remain committed to making Hesston USD 460 the very best place for students to learn, grow, and succeed.
