1.0 Project Overview
USD 460 Hesston Public Schools is seeking bids from qualified Contractors to manage and
execute the demolition of the Hesston Middle School building located at 100 N Ridge Rd.,
Hesston, KS. The scope of the project includes demolition of substantial portions of the middle
school facility. There is an alternate for possibly retaining and securing the gymnasium, boiler
room, and locker rooms.
All contractors and sub-contractors shall comply with all local, state, and federal laws,
ordinances, and regulations.
2.0 Scope of Work
2.1 Demolition Work
− Demolition and removal of the middle school structure as shown on the drawings.
o Alternate will include safeguarding and structurally isolating gymnasium, boiler
room, and locker rooms.
− Removal and disposal of all debris per regulations.
− Implement dust and noise control.
− Provide temporary power, water and distribution, and lighting as required to complete
this work.
− Include permit fees, metering fees, and consumption charges as required.
− Coordinate any/all inspections of work as required.
− Include rough grading and backfill around building footprint to match existing adjacent
elevations as required.
2.2 Preservation & Protection
− Maintain full structural integrity and functionality of designated preserved areas.
− Temporary protection measures during demolition.
− All saw cutting to be provided as required.
− Keep adjacent roads clean and clear of all silt and mud. This includes any and all
required street cleanup needed due to their own forces and/or sub-tier forces.
2.3 Utility Work
− Demo and removal of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection items,
systems, and equipment. Include disconnect/safing of all utilities.
2.4 Exclusion
− Sales tax
− Special Waste (asbestos)
3. Contractor Requirements
− Licensed and bonded Contractor in Kansas.
− Onsite project superintendent required.
4. Bid Submission Requirements
All bids must include:
− Bid qualifications.
− Project duration for base bid and alternate. (Working Days)
− Lump-sum bid including all work components.
− Alternate/additive options.
− Insurance certificate.
− Letter from surety for performance and payment bond if over $100,000 per state
statute.
5. Site Visit & Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid meeting will be held at the project site: Hesston Middle School (100 N Ridge Rd.) on
December 10th, at 1:30 PM by USD 460 and the Bidder.
